In this role, you will design, develop, and support custom automation equipment for a wide range of industries, including Transportation, Life Science, Consumer Products, and General Industry. ATC Automation specializes in the design and build of custom automated assembly and test equipment. Our engineers work collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer requirements while maintaining high standards for quality, budget, and schedule performance. A Controls Engineer is responsible for creating electrical and pneumatic schematics, reviewing and analyzing technical drawings, troubleshooting and debugging electrical and pneumatic systems, and determining appropriate material and component specifications. This role also involves programming and commissioning automated machinery with a high level of technical proficiency. The ideal candidate will possess experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley and Siemens), HMIs, robotics, servo systems, vision systems, and a variety of industrial sensors and actuators. How You'll Contribute Develop, program, troubleshoot, and support industrial automation systems. Demonstrate proficiency with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi automation platforms. Read, interpret, and create electrical and pneumatic schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. Design, develop, and debug complex control programs for industrial machinery and manufacturing processes. Utilize advanced software tools to develop ladder logic, machine controls, and operator interfaces. Communicate directly with customers to define machine requirements and performance criteria. Apply electrical and controls engineering principles to solve technical challenges and optimize machine performance. Support installation, startup, commissioning, and validation of completed automation systems. Travel as required to customer facilities for installation, troubleshooting, and support activities. Maintain a valid driver's license and ability to travel. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in custom automation, machine building, or a related industrial controls environment. Strong understanding of PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, robotics, and industrial communication networks. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Physical Demands Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor. Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
