  • to lead the development and execution of advanced manufacturing strategies that drive automation, process innovation, custom equipment development, and scalable production across our global manufacturing network.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will partner cross-functionally with Operations, R D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, and site leadership teams to industrialize new products, modernize manufacturing processes, and build world-class manufacturing capabilities that support business growth.

Advanced Manufacturing Strategy:
  • Define and execute the global advanced manufacturing engineering roadmap, including automation, process technology, equipment strategy, tooling, digital manufacturing, capacity expansion, and manufacturing architecture for current and future products. +
  • Machine Building & Technology Development:
  • Lead the design, build, debug, qualification, and lifecycle support of custom manufacturing equipment, automation cells, fixtures, tooling, inspection systems, and process technologies. Ensure equipment is designed for reliability, maintainability, safety, validation, lean flow, operator usability, and scalable production. +
  • NPI & Industrialization:
  • Partner with R D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure new products and transfers are designed for manufacturability, validated effectively, launched on time, and scaled with robust process capability. +
  • Automation & Process Development:
  • Own the equipment and line design philosophy for the Implant Operating Company, ensuring new manufacturing systems are built for lean flow, high uptime, process capability, operator usability, maintainability, and long-term scalability. +
  • Operational Performance:
  • Use strong problem solving and engineering skills to solve line-down issues, reduce process variation, improve yield, increase equipment reliability, remove capacity constraints, and deliver annual productivity and cost reduction commitments. This role will establish the organization as the recognized technical manufacturing authority for the Implant Operating Company. +
  • Capital, Supplier & Portfolio Governance:
  • Build business cases, prioritize strategic initiatives, manage capital requests, establish project milestones and budgets, and ensure execution of high-impact engineering programs across sites. Manage external automation partners, machine builders, and equipment suppliers while maintaining internal technical ownership of design intent, acceptance criteria, and performance outcomes. +
  • Quality, Compliance & Validation:
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, software, documentation, and validation activities meet applicable medical device quality system and regulatory expectations, including URS development, FAT/SAT, process validation, change control, risk management, and audit readiness. +
  • People & Functional Leadership:
  • Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing engineering leaders and teams; build technical capability; establish standard work; and create a culture of accountability, problem solving, collaboration, continuous improvement, and hands-on technical excellence. \#LI-EU1

Experience:
  • 15+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, automation, process development, equipment engineering, or operations experience, with 7+ years of leadership experience preferred.

Must have direct experience leading custom machine build programs, including equipment concepting, URS development, mechanical/electrical/control design reviews, machine acceptance, debug, qualification, validation, and handoff to production. +

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field required; advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or related field can be beneficial. +
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing process development, custom automation, mechanical systems, controls/PLC/HMI, robotics or material handling where applicable, vision systems, fixtures, tooling, machine safety, equipment qualification, process validation, FAT/SAT, OEE, uptime, maintainability, spare parts/service strategy, Lean/Six Sigma, design for manufacturability, design for test, capacity planning, and regulated production environments.

  • Medical Device /
Regulated Manufacturing:
  • Experience operating in ISO 13485, FDA-regulated, or comparable quality system environments, with strong understanding of documentation, validation, risk management, change control, equipment qualification, and process transfer expectations. +
  • Supplier & Integrator Management:
  • Proven ability to lead external automation integrators, machine builders, and equipment suppliers while retaining internal ownership of technical direction, user requirements, design reviews, acceptance criteria, validation readiness, and business outcomes. +
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence across sites and functions, communicate with senior leadership, manage complex portfolios, challenge technical designs and automation trade-offs, and deliver measurable SQDC and productivity results. +
  • Preferred Certifications:
  • Green Belt, Black Belt, PMP, or equivalent continuous improvement / project management certification preferred.

Target Market Salary Range:
  • Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs.

The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans. $170,000.00 USD - $231,400.00 USD Annual
