Vossen Wheels Employment Type:
Full-Time, On-Site About Vossen Vossen Wheels is a premier manufacturer of high-end custom forged wheels, engineered and manufactured at our facility in Miami, Florida. Our manufacturing operation includes Engineering, CNC machining, metal finishing, powder coating, quality control, and final packaging. We operate in a high-mix manufacturing environment where nearly every order requires careful consideration of vehicle fitment, wheel geometry, manufacturability, machining strategy, and quality. We are looking for a CAD/CAM Engineer who can help take custom wheel applications from engineering requirements through production-ready CNC programs. The Role The CAD/CAM Engineer is responsible for developing and modifying production-ready wheel models, ensuring designs meet customer and vehicle requirements, and programming those designs for CNC manufacturing using CAMWorks . This is not purely a CAD design position. The person in this role will be expected to work across both engineering and CNC programming , taking approved geometry and helping turn it into a manufacturable, production-ready process. You do not need to be a career CNC Programmer, but you should have a strong understanding of machining fundamentals and be capable of creating, modifying, and troubleshooting CAM programs. You will work closely with CNC Programmers, Machinists, Quality, and Production leadership to ensure designs can be manufactured safely, accurately, and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Create and modify detailed 3D CAD models for custom forged wheel applications. Engineer wheel specifications based on vehicle fitment, brake clearance, offset, width, diameter, bolt pattern, center bore, and customer requirements. Modify existing wheel designs while maintaining structural, aesthetic, and manufacturing requirements. Prepare engineering models and production data for CNC machining. Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs using CAMWorks. Generate and optimize CAM toolpaths for production. Select appropriate machining operations, tooling, cutting strategies, feeds, and speeds. Post-process CAM programs and prepare them for use on CNC equipment. Review and troubleshoot CAM programs when machining problems arise. Make program adjustments based on feedback from Machinists, first-article results, dimensional inspection, and production performance. Review designs for manufacturability before they reach production. Identify potential tool access, clearance, geometry, workholding, and machining issues. Work closely with CNC Programmers and Machinists during program development and prove-out. Support first-article machining and new program validation. Review machining results and make CAD or CAM adjustments when required. Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T. Support dimensional inspection and root-cause analysis when parts fall outside specification. Maintain and improve engineering templates, CAM strategies, models, manufacturing documentation, and reusable processes. Troubleshoot issues related to CAD geometry, CAM output, CNC programs, machining, and manufactured part dimensions. Maintain accurate engineering files, program revisions, and production documentation. Collaborate with Engineering, Programming, Machine Shop, and Quality teams to resolve production issues quickly. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving engineering throughput, machining efficiency, and program reliability. Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional experience in CAD/CAM, manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, mechanical design, or a closely related field. Strong proficiency with 3D parametric CAD software, preferably SolidWorks. Professional experience using CAM software to create CNC machining programs. Ability to create and modify CAM toolpaths for CNC-machined components. Practical understanding of CNC machining fundamentals, including milling and/or turning. Ability to understand how CAD geometry translates into actual machining operations. Working knowledge of CNC tooling, feeds and speeds, workholding, fixtures, and machine limitations. Ability to read and understand G-code and troubleshoot basic CNC program issues. Working knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerancing, and GD&T. Experience designing or programming components intended for CNC machining or precision manufacturing. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Ability to identify potential manufacturability problems before a design reaches production. Ability to work directly with Machinists and CNC Programmers during program prove-out and troubleshooting. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engineering priorities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred. An equivalent combination of technical education and relevant CAD/CAM and CNC manufacturing experience will also be considered. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CAMWorks. Experience with SolidWorks. Experience programming both CNC mills and lathes. Experience with multi-axis CNC machining. Experience with forged aluminum components. Experience manufacturing wheels, automotive components, aerospace components, or other precision-machined products. Experience with Haas, Hwacheon, YCM, or similar CNC equipment. Experience with tooling, fixtures, and workholding. Experience supporting CNC program prove-out and first-article production. Experience optimizing machining cycle times or improving CAM strategies. Experience with FEA or structural analysis. Why Vossen At Vossen, engineering is directly connected to the product. You will not spend your days creating models that disappear into a drawing package and get sent to an outside supplier. You will be able to design a wheel, program the machining process, walk onto the manufacturing floor, see that program running on a CNC machine, inspect the finished component, and make improvements based on real production results. That connection between engineering and manufacturing is a major part of how we operate. Vossen is also a company built by car people . We are passionate about the automotive industry, design, engineering, and the craftsmanship that goes into producing a premium forged wheel. We take pride in making products that customers are genuinely excited to put on their vehicles. Our approach to design is equally important. We do not simply chase whatever style happens to be popular at the moment. Vossen has built its reputation by developing original designs, pushing the product forward, and helping define where the wheel industry goes next. For the right person, this is an opportunity to combine engineering, CNC manufacturing, design, and a genuine passion for cars in an environment where you can see the direct result of your work. We are looking for someone who takes pride in what they create, enjoys solving real manufacturing problems, and wants to contribute to products that represent the Vossen name around the world.
