We design, develop, manufacture, and launch physical products across our own brands and through Shark Design Services for select clients. Our work spans baby products, lifestyle products, tech accessories, toys, consumer hard goods, smart products, and other physical product categories. We are focused on creating products that are not only visually strong, but also functional, manufacturable, practical, and ready for real-world production. We are currently looking for an Industrial Design Engineer to join our Miami office full-time and support our growing product development workload. The Opportunity This is a hands-on physical product design and engineering support role for someone who can help take ideas from concept through CAD, refinement, prototyping, and manufacturing preparation. You will work closely with our internal product design and engineering team to support active client projects and internal Shark Group brands. The right person will have a strong eye for aesthetics, a practical understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to balance design, engineering, user experience, cost, and production reality. This is not an entry-level training role. We are looking for someone who can confidently support active physical product development projects, create strong CAD work, understand manufacturability, and contribute to design execution with reasonable independence. This is not a UI/UX, digital product, app design, or graphic design-only role. We are looking for someone with direct experience designing and developing physical products . What You Will Work On You will support the design and development of physical consumer products across categories such as: Lifestyle products Baby products Toys Tech accessories Consumer hard goods Smart products Product housings and enclosures General manufactured products You will help move projects from early concept ideas into detailed product designs that can be prototyped, tested, refined, and manufactured. Responsibilities Develop and refine physical product concepts from client briefs, sketches, reference images, and functional requirements. Create detailed 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software. Support product development from concept through design refinement, prototype review, and manufacturing preparation. Collaborate with internal designers, engineers, product managers, ownership, and manufacturing teams. Balance aesthetics, function, manufacturability, durability, assembly, cost, and user experience. Create product renderings, presentation visuals, technical drawings, and design documentation. Use KeyShot or similar rendering software to create realistic product visuals. Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for product presentations, layouts, graphics, and visual communication. Conduct product and market research to understand trends, user needs, competitive products, materials, and design opportunities. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative, practical product ideas. Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for prototyping and production. Review prototypes for fit, function, usability, quality, materials, finish, and manufacturability. Incorporate feedback from clients, ownership, engineers, and manufacturers into revised designs. Support packaging design and product presentation work when needed. Help solve mechanical and manufacturing-related product design challenges. Communicate clearly with the team and help keep projects moving forward. Travel to our Shenzhen, China office and supplier network when required to support prototyping, engineering, and manufacturing. Required Skills & Experience Experience designing and developing physical products. Strong CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar. Strong eye for aesthetics, form, proportion, materials, finishes, and product presentation. Understanding of industrial design and product design principles. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods. Mechanical understanding related to product development, assembly, and production. Ability to create 3D models, prototypes, renderings, technical drawings, and product presentations. Experience with KeyShot or similar rendering tools. Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Ability to think practically about how products are made, assembled, used, packaged, and manufactured. Strong problem-solving skills, especially with physical product and mechanical design challenges. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, engineers, suppliers, and leadership. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple active projects. Portfolio showing physical product design work is required. Preferred Experience Experience with injection molded plastics, silicone products, consumer hard goods, electronics housings, toys, baby products, lifestyle products, or tech accessories. Experience with DFM/DFA, including design for manufacturing and design for assembly. Experience working with factories, prototype vendors, suppliers, or overseas manufacturing teams. Experience preparing products for production. Experience in a product development agency, design consultancy, consumer products company, or manufacturing environment. Packaging design experience is a plus. Experience traveling to factories or working directly with China-based engineering/manufacturing teams is a plus. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is creative, technical, and practical. You should be able to look at a product and think through: Does this look good? Does it function properly? Can it be manufactured? Will it assemble correctly? Can the user understand it? Will it hold up in real use? Can we simplify it? Is it realistic for production? We are looking for someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, and excited to work on a variety of real-world product development projects. Compensation Pay is $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year, depending on experience. Compensation will be based on experience, portfolio quality, CAD ability, physical product design experience, manufacturing knowledge, and overall fit for the role. Important Note This role is specifically for physical product design and product engineering support. This is not a UI/UX design role, app design role, branding role, or graphic design-only position.
