Job Description

Job Title:
Design Engineer Job Description This Design Engineer role is part of a multidisciplinary team that supports multiple product lines by designing new products and improving existing ones. You will work in a fast-paced environment, typically juggling two to three projects at a time, and may assist with test validation and the development of supporting documentation. The position focuses on mechanical and sheet metal design using SolidWorks and other CAD tools, with an emphasis on accuracy, manufacturability, and collaboration across functions. Responsibilities + Design new mechanical components and products using SolidWorks and other CAD tools, with a focus on sheet metal and mechanical assemblies. + Modify and improve existing designs to enhance performance, manufacturability, and reliability. + Create detailed drawings and models that clearly define geometry, materials, and tolerances using GD&T standards. + Support multiple projects simultaneously, typically managing two to three design assignments at a time in a fast-paced environment. + Prepare and maintain accurate drafting and design documentation, including assembly drawings and supporting data. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and assembly line personnel, to ensure designs meet functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements. + Incorporate sand casting and other manufacturing processes into design concepts where applicable. + Assist with test validation activities by updating designs and documentation based on test results and feedback. + Support assembly processes by developing clear, accurate drawings and instructions for valves, building materials, and related mechanical components. + Manage design data effectively to maintain version control and ensure consistency across product lines. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting. + Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and mechanical design. + Experience with sheet metal design and mechanical drafting. + Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD tools for drafting and drawing creation. + Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). + Experience creating assembly drawings and detailed mechanical drawings. + Familiarity with mechanical components such as valves and building materials. + Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt quickly from project to project. + Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting assembly line or assembly processes. + Strong data management skills to organize and maintain engineering and design documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with sand casting design considerations. + Exposure to engineering environments involving mechanical systems and assemblies. + Ability to support test validation and incorporate feedback into design updates. + Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, clear, and consistent documentation. Work Environment The Design Engineer works within a team of approximately seven people in an office-based setting with occasional exposure to shop or field environments. The typical noise level is low to moderate, consistent with an office, but certain tasks may require hearing and eye protection when working near moving mechanical parts or in areas with vibration. At times, the role may involve exposure to wet or humid conditions and outside weather conditions when supporting activities around mechanical equipment. The work pace is quick, with frequent transitions from one project to another, and involves regular use of CAD software, engineering tools, and standard office equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
