Job Description:
Imerys is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Project Engineer to join our IT/OT Manufacturing Application Delivery team. This is a high-impact role at the forefront of our digital transformation journey, where you will drive smart factory initiatives and bridge the gap between Operations Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) across our manufacturing sites. About the Role As an Industrial Automation Project Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic automation and manufacturing application projects. You will combine deep engineering expertise with practical project leadership to deliver IIoT, data collection, Industrie 4.0, and supervision solutions that create real business value while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and reliability. You will serve as a trusted technical leader and bridge between plant operations and IT, ensuring seamless integration of advanced industrial technologies into our manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities Lead industrial automation and manufacturing application projects from scoping and solution selection through to successful implementation and handover across global sites. Act as the primary technical interface between IT and plant operations, building strong relationships and guiding operational teams on IT/OT best practices. Partner with business and operations leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute high-value projects in automation, IIoT, data acquisition, and digital manufacturing. Manage full project lifecycle including scope definition, budgeting, detailed planning, stakeholder management, and on-time, on-budget delivery. Develop functional specifications, evaluate and select technology solutions and partners, and deploy Imerys' industrial application portfolio. Ensure all solutions comply with group IT security policies, safety standards, environmental requirements, and engineering best practices. Provide Level 2/3 technical support during project transitions and go-live phases. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related field) is required. 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering industrial automation and OT projects in a manufacturing environment. Strong technical background in automation systems, industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus), IIoT, SCADA, DCS, and manufacturing processes. Proven project management skills with experience managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams. Solid understanding of industrial IT, application architecture, and OT/IT convergence. Willingness to travel approximately 25% to support project delivery. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for operational audiences.
