Annual Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join its team and support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operations. This role will focus on improving efficiency, quality, safety, and production flow while supporting equipment, tooling, plant layout, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and CAD tools, and the ability to manage projects from concept through implementation. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity. Analyze and optimize plant layouts, workflows, and production flow to improve operational efficiency. Oversee the design, installation, modification, and upgrading of manufacturing equipment. Develop tooling, flow lines, fixtures, and manufacturing documentation to support production requirements. Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives. Evaluate and justify equipment investments based on operational requirements, cost, and expected benefits. Coordinate and manage on-site contractors to ensure manufacturing projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Utilize CAD and manufacturing layout tools to develop effective production systems and facility layouts. Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies to manufacturing processes. Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. Manage manufacturing engineering projects, including timelines, budgets, resources, and implementation. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, layouts, and process-related materials using Microsoft Office applications. Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing challenges. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement practical solutions that support production goals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. 2-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing machinery, processes, equipment, and production systems. Proficiency with CAD software and manufacturing layout tools. Experience working in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments is highly preferred. Experience with DFM/DFA and FMEA methodologies. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Lean Six Sigma training or certification is preferred. Experience coordinating contractors or vendors in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Required Skills & Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Strong understanding of plant layouts, workflow optimization, tooling, and production processes. Ability to manage equipment installation, upgrades, and manufacturing improvement projects. Strong project planning, organization, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and production personnel. Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
