- Senior Design Engineer/Technologist
- , you will serve as an experienced, individual contributor on projects and you will be responsible for providing sound technical solutions to dealers and customers worldwide for their Design-To-Order (DTO) requirements in a manner that will ensure that products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

- + Work location: Preferred location of Lafayette, IN with other locations of Houston, TX, Peoria, IL, and Griffin, GA + Domestic relocation assistance IS available + Visa sponsorship is NOT available +
Travel:
Up to 10% including international travel. + This position requires working onsite five days a week.- What you will do:
- + Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems for custom projects in the Oil and Gas market + Develop concept and design of complex components, subsystems, and/or processes for customized engine/mechanical and package/generator set solutions + Provide Project Specification review support for dealers and customers + Provide Design-To-Order (DTO) quotes to dealers and internal customers + Communicate technical information to dealers, customers, team members, suppliers, and other units + Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers on projects and opportunities + Develop and maintain keen understanding of internal and external customer needs Support definition and value placed on new product features, functional and technical specifications and general product requirements.

- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. +
Effective Communications:
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. +
Managing Multiple Priorities:
- Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. +
- Technical Excellence
- : Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- You will also have:
- + Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology field with 6-8 plus years of experience, or equivalent experience of 10 plus years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
- Top candidates will also have:
- + Strong intellectual curiosity with a flexible mindset + Knowledge of Caterpillar Engine and/or Generator set products + Previous DTO Engineering or A&I Engineering roles + Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and communication skills + Ability to perform complex assignments + Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills + Ability to communicate technical information effectively + Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate technical product performance and application knowledge.
Summary Pay Range:
- $112,710.00 - $169,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
