Job Description

As a member of the Product Development team, the CAD Designer will work closely with the Product Engineer and other members of the engineering team in the design and development of new rigid plastic packaging products and/or revisions to existing products. Key activities will include generating 3D solid models, detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, and various computer-generated illustrations of new packaging products, as well as designing and documenting revisions and modifications to existing product designs. The CAD Designer will also create product graphics and data to support the creation of product specifications, sales literature, and other product-related documentation.
Responsibilities:
Creates new 3D computer models and modifies existing models from sketches or general directions as provided by the Product Engineer. Generates fully dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings using standard ANSI drawing practices. Builds 3D assemblies of package components Generates isometric, exploded, or other specific product views to support the creation of product manufacturing and usage specifications. Creates artistic renderings of products for engineering and customer presentations using add-on rendering software. Takes appropriate steps to protect and safeguard intellectual property. Creates 3D printed evaluation models using in-house 3D printing capabilities or 3 rd party printing services. Maintains and improves skill level through involvement in CAD user groups and advanced CAD training Maintains the corporate CAD data library, utilizing existing file naming conventions and file storage locations.
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Design/Drafting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a CAD designer in a manufacturing environment. Experience in plastic molding a plus. 3D modeling skills with complex surfaces (SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Pro-E, etc.). Experience with Siemens SolidEdge preferred. Experience with standard ANSI 2D drafting/drawing standards. Able to work with minimal direction and supervision and achieve desired results.
