NATURE OF WORK
Plan, develop, and prepare design and engineering activities for projects, including layout and design activities, coordinating project activities with direct supervision from the Engineering & Design Manager; perform accounting activities with assistance; perform project development/estimating functions as requested with assistance, and perform other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Assists the Project Manager and Project Development Manager with flow, layout and design aspects of a project. 2. Apply standard practices and techniques in analyzing data and results, and recognize practical solutions to basic engineering problems. 3. Perform special studies or analysis of specific portions of a project; including conventional types of designs, research, investigation, survey or equipment. 4. Coordinate design efforts with other project personnel. May be required to provide construction department personnel with design information. 5. Prepare basic design sketches for drafting and incorporate into design criteria. May coordinate design with other personnel working on the same project to minimize design conflicts. 6. Review designer drawings for clarity, correctness, and constructability. 7. Oversee the production of site development drawings, process flow diagrams, development of material lists, concrete foundation detailing, structural steel layout, equipment layout, dust ducting layout and detailing, and design and detail of a variety of sheet metal fabrications, to ensure compliance with company standards, and within established budgets and timeframes. 8. Develop preliminary layouts. Coordinate engineering and design activities with construction. Review manufacturer's data and drawings with respect to project design criteria. 9. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the design budget portion of the project estimate and coordinating/communicating savings and overages with Project Manager. 10. Work with vendors to coordinate design details for projects. 11. Assist with development of Subcontractor Bid packages. 12. Contact vendors and subcontractors for pricing. 13. Performs material take-offs and quantity analysis. 14. Enter data in estimating system as required. 15. Draft purchase orders and subcontracts for approval by Project Manager. 16. Develop a complete and thorough understanding of the Project Contract Documents and subcontracts. Identify and resolve potential problems regarding the documents. 17. Schedule and participate in design reviews of projects in the design/drafting phase with Engineering & Design Manager, Engineers, Construction Managers, and Project Supervisors as pertinent. 18. Assist Engineering & Design Manager, Project Manager, and Project Superintendent as needed with measurements, installation questions, etc. 19. Maintain open and positive dialog with Clients, Subcontractors and Engineers, Engineering & Design Manager, Project Manager and Construction manager. 20. Assist with marketing efforts as directed. 21. Travel as required to carry out these duties on projects in remote locations 22. Perform other functions as assigned. 23. Other duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Travel will be required up to approximately 25%.
- Must have clean driving record and valid driver's license.
- Drug & Alcohol testing required.
