Job Description

Position Overview As a Project Design Engineer at Irwin, you will support the design, development, and execution of seating projects. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time while meeting engineering standards and customer requirements. This role combines technical and project management responsibilities to address challenges and drive project success.
Responsibilities Problem Solving:
Collaborate with the project team to proactively identify potential challenges in project design, manufacturing, or coordination. With guidance from senior engineers, develop solutions for design adjustments, material selection, and production bottlenecks with guidance from senior engineers. Maintain a focus on both progress and quality, ensuring that solutions align with project specifications and timelines.
Project Work:
Create and update 2D CAD layouts and 3D models. Participate in 3D modeling to complete design and bill of materials accurately. Prepare detailed documentation, drawings, and revisions. Maintain attention to detail to ensure quality and project momentum. Review part designs regularly to verify accuracy and make adjustments as needed to support efficient manufacturing. Engineering Change Requests (ECR): Document and implement approved design or process changes through the ECR process, ensuring they are submitted for review and approval according to company standards. Communicate updates to ensure smooth project integration. Implement approved changes, updating design models, documentation, and other project elements as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and IT teams to align objectives. Share updates to prevent delays and improve workflows. Provide clear and respectful updates to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all communications are professional and concise.
Team Support:
Promote a collaborative atmosphere by encouraging open communication, knowledge sharing, and mutual support among team members. Step in to help address urgent project needs or bottlenecks as required, ensuring that team objectives remain on track. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling, preferably with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow guidance in resolving technical challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and respectfully.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 - $80,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role.
