  • Senior Truss & Engineered Wood Designer
  • position is responsible for independently designing residential roof truss, floor truss components, and engineered wood product (EWP) solutions that meet structural requirements, customer expectations, manufacturing capabilities, and applicable building codes.
This role develops complete truss packages from architectural plans, produces production and placement drawings, reviews engineered wood products.
  • Structural Design
  • + Independently design residential roof and floor truss components using truss design software + Review engineered wood products and related structural components + Produce placement plans and production drawings. + Optimize designs for structural integrity, manufacturing efficiency, transportation, installation, and cost effectiveness + Review and revise designs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Engineering & Technical Review
  • + Read and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, contract documents, and specifications + Verify designs comply with International Residential Code requirements and company design practices + Review framing layouts for constructability and identify potential conflicts prior to production. + Recommend alternative design solutions when appropriate
  • Project Management & Coordination
  • + Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting customer deadlines + Coordinate engineering clarifications and design revisions with customers and internal teams + Coordinate closely with Sales Representatives, Builders, Project Managers, Estimators, Production, Installation teams, Panel Designers, and Field Operations
  • Production Support
  • + Prepare manufacturing documentation + Support production personnel by resolving design questions + Assist with troubleshooting production or installation issues related to truss design + Improve manufacturability while minimizing production waste and field modifications
  • Technical Leadership
  • + Mentor and assist junior designers + Share technical knowledge and best practices across the design team + Assist Design Manager with maintaining design standards and quality expectations + Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction What you'll bring: + Advanced residential framing knowledge + Excellent analytical and structural problem-solving abilities + Strong communication and collaboration skills + Exceptional organizational and project management skills + Ability to independently manage multiple projects + Strong attention to detail + Commitment to engineering accuracy and quality + Additional education in Architectural, Construction or Engineering fields are a benefit.
+ Minimum
  • 5 years
  • of residential roof and floor truss design experience + Experience sizing engineered wood products including LVLs, I-Joists, PSL, and Glulam members + Experience with Alpine preferred + Experience with MiTek, MBA, Eagle Metal, or similar truss software accepted + Experience using Forte, BC Calc, Simpson Connector Selector, or similar engineering software preferred + Proficiency with AutoCAD LT and Microsoft Office + Multi-family construction experience preferred + Primarily office-based environment + Flexibility to support customer deadlines and production schedules What you'll earn: + Health Care Benefits + 401(k) with employer match + Paid Time Off •_QXO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

USD $60,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
