Not Available Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer with deep expertise in CNC machining to join our automotive manufacturing team. In this role, you will be a "working engineer"—equally comfortable designing high-level process improvements and troubleshooting directly on the shop floor. You will lead CNC programming, optimize machining processes, improve throughput and quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across our production lines. Must-Have Requirements Before applying, please ensure you meet the following baseline criteria:
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience specifically within the automotive manufacturing industry.
Technical Expertise:
Hands-on proficiency programming and validating CNC lathes and milling machines (Fuji and Mori Seiki experience is highly preferred).
Software:
Proficiency in Mastercam (or similar CAM software) and AutoCAD for toolpath development.
Engineering Fundamentals:
Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, tolerance stack-ups, and process capability ($C_p$/$C_{pk}$).
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR equivalent, extensive hands-on manufacturing experience.
Key Responsibilities Process Optimization:
Optimize machining processes to improve OEE, reduce scrap, and increase overall throughput.
CNC Programming:
Develop, modify, and validate CNC programs for vertical and horizontal milling machines and lathes. Lead toolpath development and cutting strategy optimization for automotive components.
Tooling & Workholding:
Identify and implement optimal tooling, inserts, and workholding solutions. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic fixtures is key.
Shop-Floor Troubleshooting:
Directly address machining issues including cycle time, tool wear, chatter, and dimensional variation.
Quality & Compliance:
Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure process capability ($C_p$/$C_{pk}$), first-piece validation, SPC, and overall process control.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate waste and streamline operations.
Documentation:
Develop and maintain meticulous process documentation, work instructions, and operating standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to achieve production goals. Required Skills & Technical Qualifications Expert-level understanding of carbide tooling, inserts, and tool holders. Experience utilizing CMMs, Zoller tool presetters, and advanced measurement systems. Strong knowledge of SPC, capability studies, and statistical process control. Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of cross-functional teamwork. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have) Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced automotive production environments. Background in complex, multi-axis machining. Familiarity with ERP/MES systems. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification. Proven experience leading and project-managing process improvement initiatives. Why Apply?
