Job Summary:

Hands-on engineer to lead the analysis of production problems, establish and improve manufacturing methods and address equipment and tooling needs to reduce costs and improve product quality on centrifugal wheel assemblies and wheel housing units. Under general direction, troubleshoot and analyze manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions for high quality, efficient manufacturing solutions. Analyze workflow, work methods, plant and department layouts for improved product flow in production, working closely with shop floor personnel to promote long term success. Significant responsibility for area layouts and implementation of processes, equipment, programs, and tooling in support of capacity and continuous improvement projects. Ensure ongoing success of process improvement initiatives by implementing policies, procedures and process documentation that support axial fan assembly. Identify continuous improvement opportunities, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, conduct required time studies and implement required changes. Identify tools, jigs and fixtures, or other new or special equipment required for new production or improvements to existing production lines. Investigate, analyze and prepare justifications for the purchase of manufacturing equipment. Obtain quotations from vendors; submit capital appropriation requests for the purchase of specific equipment. Collaborate with the Maintenance and Production teams on the installation and debugging of equipment. Utilize ERP system to retrieve and maintain production information on existing parts. For new products, assist in entering process steps and rates within the ERP system. Contribute to the development of visual and written work guidelines. Justify & manage projects up to $25,000. Interpret complex part and assembly drawings, GD&T, bend/form requirements, material specifications, and tolerance schemes for stamped and formed sheet metal components; translate design requirements into manufacturable processes and inspection criteria. Perform other manufacturing engineering tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent degree. Sheet metal component assembly experience preferred At least 5 years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with good mechanical aptitude of general machinery. Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills Superior analytical and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority ERP system experience desirable Strong Excel skills desirable Lean & Six Sigma experience desirable
