ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our technical team at SES's Itasca warehouse. This role offers hands-on experience supporting manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and working alongside the Production Engineering team in a fast-paced operational environment. The individual hired for this role will gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Assist in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and safety Support continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles Help develop and update work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation Participate in time studies and workflow optimization Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues Collect and analyze production and inspection data to identify trends and improvement opportunities Support implementation of new equipment or process changes on the production floor
COMPETENCIES
Exposure to Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies Experience with data analysis or process mapping
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work in a hands-on, shop-floor environment
