  • Certification & Compliance Job Summary The Quality Engineer
  • Certification & Compliance is a key technical role responsible for managing UL certifications and handling customer-facing quality issues for custom touch and non-touch displays/monitors.
This position ensures regulatory compliance and product quality across markets such as casino gaming, industrial/automation, outdoor, retail, and aviation. The engineer supports quality consistency across the company's two manufacturing locations (Illinois, USA and Tijuana, Mexico), works closely with engineering, production, and sales teams, and helps resolve issues while implementing improvements in a dynamic, custom-product environment.
Degree Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related) preferred , but not required. Equivalent combination of technical experience, certifications, UL-specific training, and hands-on electronics knowledge will be strongly considered. Experience with multi-site or cross-border manufacturing is a plus. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Certification (Core Focus) Manage and update all UL certifications for electronics products, including coordinating quarterly meetings with UL auditors, maintaining UL files, technical documentation, and test reports. Support preparation and renewal of other relevant certifications (FCC, CE, RoHS, IP ratings, gaming-specific approvals, etc.). Assist with product testing (safety, EMC, environmental) and monitor regulatory changes relevant to target industries. Manage all Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Quality Oversight Oversee and support quality operations at both manufacturing locations (Illinois, USA and Tijuana, Mexico) to ensure consistent standards, processes, and performance. Conduct periodic on-site quality audits, process reviews, and inspections at both facilities; travel between locations as needed ( approximately 10% travel expected ). Collaborate with production team to identify issues, share best practices, and implement uniform quality controls for display assembly, touch integration, electronics, and final testing. Monitor and help resolve quality challenges, such as supply chain differences, environmental factors (e.g., outdoor-rated products), and compliance requirements. Support the transfer of quality knowledge, training, and corrective actions between the two sites to maintain alignment with company standards and customer expectations. Customer Quality & Issue Resolution (Core Focus) Handle customer-facing quality issues: perform root cause analysis and lead 8D corrective action processes. Implement production and supplier adjustments to resolve issues and improve end-product quality. Communicate with customers on quality expectations and ensure alignment with internal processes. Track and report key quality metrics (defect rates, returns, corrective action closure). Quality Systems & Process Improvement Support the company's Quality Management System (QMS) through internal processes, documentation, and basic audits. Collaborate with engineering during new product development to incorporate quality and compliance requirements (DFM feedback, reliability testing). Conduct or support incoming, in-process, and final inspections for displays, electronics assemblies, and components. Work with suppliers on quality issues. Additional Duties Provide technical troubleshooting support for production and field issues (e.g., touch performance, reliability, outdoor durability). Maintain quality records, traceability, and technical files. Participate in cross-functional projects to drive continuous improvement. Stay up-to-date on display technology standards and best practices.
