Manufacturing Engineer Manufacturing Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems for precision-machined components, with a strong focus on turning processes, CNC programming, and turn-mill operations. This role partners with production, quality, design engineering, and supply chain to scale robust, repeatable processes that meet safety, schedule, and cost targets. Key Responsibilities Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for turning, CNC milling, and turn-mill operations to ensure repeatable quality and throughput Create and validate CNC programs, tooling strategies, and setup sheets to support production runs and new part introductions Perform process capability studies, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Kaizen, 5S) to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time Work with design engineering to ensure manufacturability, provide DFM feedback, and implement design changes to improve producibility Specify and qualify tooling, fixtures, gauges, and measurement methods; collaborate with suppliers to source critical tooling and equipment Develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training materials for machine operators and production technicians Lead troubleshooting on the shop floor to resolve process issues, machine performance problems, and quality nonconformances Support new product introductions by planning pilot runs, capacity analysis, and process validation to meet schedule and quality targets Collect and analyze production data to drive decisions, create reports, and present findings to stakeholders Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality system requirements (ISO/AS9100 or equivalent) Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in precision machining environments, preferably with turning and turn-mill processes Proficiency in CNC programming, CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, or similar), and G-code fundamentals Strong practical experience with lathe operations, turning process optimization, live tooling, and multi-axis turn-mill machines Solid understanding of GD&T, inspection methods, metrology tools (CMM, micrometers, calipers), and process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk) Proven experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen); Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent is a plus Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and train production staff Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and experience generating routings, work orders, and BOMs Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, manage multiple priorities, and travel to supplier or plant sites as needed Benefits Full benefits package!
