Rotational shifts needed- GM,FORD or Rivian experience Allen Bradley PLC programing and HMI Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation and Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems that enhance production efficiency, safety, and quality. Your expertise in industrial controls, robotics, and electrical systems will be essential to optimize manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in PLC programming, robotics engineering, and industrial automation technologies, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing principles and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards. Responsibilities Develop, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems to ensure seamless operation of automated equipment. Design and implement control systems for industrial robotic systems, including Fanuc robots and other robotic platforms. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Maintain and upgrade industrial electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry best practices. Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures or process deviations; implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate tooling, machining processes, and vision inspection systems into automation solutions. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by streamlining control processes and reducing waste through automation improvements. Install, configure, and troubleshoot industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP or Profibus for reliable communication between control devices. Conduct PLC system installation, repair, programming in ladder logic (LD), and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance. Utilize AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing control panels or system layouts; interpret schematics accurately. Assist in the development of industrial controls documentation and training materials for operations personnel. Experience Proven experience in practicing within an industrial or manufacturing engineering role focused on automation controls. Extensive knowledge of PLC systems installation, repair, programming (including ladder logic), troubleshooting, and configuration. Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotics or similar industrial robotic systems; robot programming expertise is highly desirable. Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, schematics reading, and interpretation. Familiarity with vision inspection systems and distributed control systems used in manufacturing environments. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles applied to automation projects for process efficiency. Experience working within CGMP environments is a plus for regulated industries. Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks for system design; ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on complex equipment issues using engineering troubleshooting techniques. Background in mechanical knowledge related to tooling or machining processes enhances system integration capabilities.
