at Rivian in Normal, Illinois, United States Job Description Staff Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Normal, IL. Identify and implement capital equipment solutions to optimize production processes. Conduct in-depth analyses to identify areas for improvement and encompass short-term enhancements and long-term strategic initiatives. Responsible for new product introductions, cost reduction strategies, and process optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, develop RFQs, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reductions. Engage with manufacturing leadership to evaluate potential solutions and suppliers including feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and alignment with manufacturing facility requirements. Lead the rollout of selected technologies and systems, ensuring seamless integration across all stakeholders and departments. Oversee the installation and commissioning of capital equipment, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards, facilitate a smooth transition to end-users and provide ongoing support.
RQMTS:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field and 5 years [or a Master's degree or foreign equivalent as stated above and 2 years] of experience in any occupation involving automotive manufacturing. Experience must include working with Press Room/ Stamping/Automation Equipment, sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management; managing sourcing projects that support cross-functional internal organizations; identifying process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency; working with stamping dies and automation; developing, integrating, and implementing of Advance Manufacturing Systems based on PLC controllers, Robotics, Scada Systems and Digital Manufacturing Systems in 3D environments; and developing new and existing vehicle programs including design and implementation for tooling, assembly fixtures, gigs, EOAT through CAD design, GD&T, and PLM tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, and/ or NX.
Salary Range:
$109,000 - $148,000/yr.
