Job Description

Job Description Work as part of the Design Layout Technology team supporting advanced defense hardware programs. This engineer will be responsible for PCB/PWB layout and design activities, collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop manufacturable circuit card assemblies, creating fabrication documentation, supporting engineering reviews, and ensuring products meet military, industry, and customer design requirements.
  • Develop PCB/PWB layouts, flex circuits, interconnect routing, and engineering drawing packages
  • Calculate and define PCB layer stack-ups based on engineering requirements, supplier capabilities, and industry standards
  • Generate fabrication and manufacturing data packages for production release
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams on component placement, routing, and mechanical fitment of rigid, flex, and rigid-flex designs
  • Apply electrical and mechanical design principles to PCB layouts, including impedance control and differential pair routing
  • Incorporate engineering change notices and design revisions into existing designs
  • Review and validate designs for manufacturability and compliance with standards and specifications
  • Utilize Cadence Allegro and related CAD tools to create and revise PCB designs
  • Lead and participate in design reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams

  • 3+ years of related experience as a Design Layout Engineer OR Master's degree in related discipline
  • PCB/PWB design experience including fabrication and layer stack-up design for digital, RF, mixed signal, and power supply CCAs
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro or similar PCB CAD design tool
  • Knowledge of industry specifications and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) rules for PCB/PWB design, fabrication, and manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelors - STEM degree
  • Experience with flex and rigid-flex circuit board design
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical PCB behaviors such as impedance matching, differential pair routing, component orientation, and stress/strain considerations
  • Experience generating manufacturing and fabrication outputs/documentation packages
  • Experience leading design reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
