You will be supporting the lifecycle of precision tooling projects—including a variety of injection mold types—ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to exact specifications. This is a high-impact role that combines technical engineering awareness with rigorous project management to support moving newly manufactured tooling into production, minimize production downtime and optimize shop efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Project Management Support :
Aid Project Engineers in carrying out tasks essential to project advancement. Coordinate and adhere to project timelines. Ensure all new tool builds, repairs, and samplings stay on schedule.
Cross-Functional Liaison :
Act as a conduit between Engineering, Tool Room, and Tool Maintenance to provide logistical support and resolve manufacturing bottlenecks.
Documentation & Recordkeeping :
Support development of comprehensive job folders, including BOMs (Bills of Materials) , technical prints, 3D models, and ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) .
Procurement & Vendor Management :
Order tool materials, shop supplies, and purchased components; manage relationships with vendors for outsourced work.
Technical Support :
Assist with troubleshooting tooling issues on the shop floor and participate in tool tryouts to ensure designs meet customer standards.
Inventory & Life Cycle :
Track mold inventory and monitor tool life to plan for necessary refurbishments and preventive maintenance.
Qualifications & Skills Education :
Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in a tool & die and/or machine shop environment. Shop floor experience is a bonus . Operating machinery, reading prints, light programming, or any number of basic hands-on shop skills.
Technical Expertise :
Minimum 3+ years of experience in tool & die or heavy manufacturing. A basic understanding of machine shop processes is essential.
Software Proficiency :
CAD/CAM :
Proficient in SolidWorks for reviewing models and drawings.
Management Tools :
Experience with ERP/PLM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Project Management :
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced job shop environment.
Precision Awareness :
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the use of precision measurement tools like micrometers and calipers.
Team based mindset:
Analytical, embrace communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Physical & Working Conditions This role requires frequent presence on the manufacturing floor to advance projects and provide engineering support. Work from a desk using laptops, phones, printers, and other office equipment in an office environment. Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25-50 lbs in a shop environment. Regular travel to vendor sites will be required to keep the flow of outside service work moving.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
