Controls Engineer III (Manufacturing / Automation Engineering)
Location:
Bedford, IN Schedule:
Full-Time, On-Site, M-F.
Work Schedule:
Initially starting on 1st OR 2nd shift.
Compensation:
Up to $40 an hour (DOE) Must be located within a drivable distance to Bedford, IN. About the Opportunity [Confidential] is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer III to support manufacturing launch activities and automation initiatives at a state-of-the-art production facility in Bedford, Indiana. This role is ideal for a hands-on controls engineer with strong experience in industrial automation, PLC/HMI programming, equipment installation, and manufacturing environments. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting new equipment launches, validating controls systems, troubleshooting automation issues, and ensuring successful startup and operation of manufacturing equipment. Key Responsibilities Design and develop pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems. Create electrical wiring diagrams and control panel designs. Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems. Commission, debug, and provide startup support for automated systems. Develop and support machine control software solutions. Support installation and validation of manufacturing tools and equipment. Lead and participate in safety-focused equipment launch activities. Provide technical guidance and training to plant personnel. Validate supplier equipment and ensure compliance with engineering and operational requirements. Participate in project meetings and cross-functional team activities. Travel locally as needed to suppliers and plant locations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of controls engineering experience . Experience with PLC and HMI programming. Strong understanding of electrical controls, automation systems, and industrial networking. Experience designing electrical wiring and control systems. Ability to troubleshoot and support automated manufacturing equipment. Familiarity with AutoCAD. Knowledge of industrial electrical and safety standards. Strong communication and leadership abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in automotive manufacturing environments. Fanuc robot programming and troubleshooting experience. Casting or die-cast machining experience. Fanuc CNC experience. Experience with servo drive systems. Experience supporting equipment launches and manufacturing startup activities. Experience with industrial networks and upper-level control systems. Work Schedule Candidates must be flexible to support multiple shifts as project needs dictate. You will start on 1st OR 2nd shift initially, with flexibility to work rotating shifts, as needed. 1st
