Job Description

Description SAIC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support SAIC production and manufacturing in support of the Department of War (DOW).
This position:
Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. May design arrangement of machines within facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Will estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations including Manufacturing Bill of Materials. Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
HS grad and five (5)+ years of manufacturing experience. Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques, especially on cables, cable harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical enclosures. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives. Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.
Preferred experience:
Ten (10)+ years related to cable manufacturing experience.
