Job Description

A leader in technology and innovation, Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America's largest wire and cable producers. Southwire and its subsidiaries manufacture building wire and cable, utility products, metal-clad cable, portable and electronic cord products, OEM wire products and engineered products. In addition, Southwire supplies assembled products, contractor equipment, electrical components, hand tools and jobsite power and lighting solutions. The company also offers digital solutions including contractor planning and utility grid resiliency as well as field services including cable testing, rejuvenation and replacement to support our customers as a value-add partner. The purpose of Southwire's College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Job Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for the development, standardization, quality, and continuous improvement of processes and products. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and effective operation of production processes, implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, introduction of new products, and to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

Designs, implements, and improves manufacturing or production processes to maximize efficiency and quality.

Adheres to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout all process operations.

Diagnoses and resolves process-related problems to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

Applies Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive cost reduction and efficiency gains.

Creates and maintains process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports.

Works with design, quality, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure seamless process integration.

Assists in scaling up and validating processes for new products or technologies.

Ensure machinery and tools operate within specified parameters for optimal output.

Provide technical guidance and training to hourly team members, and other staff on process changes or best practices.

Collaborates with IT and engineering teams to integrate digital tools.
