The Director of Transportation Design Engineering will be a key leader within our organization, responsible for overseeing and managing the design and implementation of transportation infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful project delivery, team leadership, and a deep understanding of engineering principles. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic direction and vision for the transportation design engineering department. Develop and implement long-term goals, business plans, and initiatives to drive the growth and success of the department. Oversee the planning, design, and execution of transportation and municipal projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and timeline requirements. Act as a project director on key initiatives, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional engineering solutions. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, designers, and project managers. Foster a collaborative and innovative work culture, encouraging professional development and knowledge-sharing among team members. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations. Collaborate with clients to develop project scopes, deliverables, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project life cycle. Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering issues. Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in transportation and municipal engineering. Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of engineering designs and deliverables. Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and reports. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required. 10 years of progressive experience in transportation design engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team collaboration. In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards, regulations and experience with ODOT and/or INDOT projects.
