Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support production operations by observing assembly and fabrication processes, conducting comprehensive time studies, and developing clear, standardized work instructions. This hands-on role bridges engineering theory and shop-floor reality, helping to optimize line balancing, improve operational efficiency, and reduce waste.
Key Responsibilities Time Studies & Data Collection:
Conduct detailed time and motion studies on the production floor to measure cycle times, evaluate labor utilization, and identify process bottlenecks.
Work Instructions & Documentation:
Develop, write, and refine visual work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation for assembly and integration.
Line Balancing & Process Optimization:
Analyze time study data to support line balancing, capacity planning, and workflow enhancements.
Floor Collaboration:
Partner directly with production technicians, operators, and supervisors to validate build sequences and troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues.
Continuous Improvement:
Support small-scale Lean, 5S, or Kaizen projects aimed at ergonomic improvements, safety audits, and waste reduction.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related STEM field (targeting Junior or Senior status).
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
