Role:
VulcanForms is seeking a Senior NPI Quality Engineer
  • Consumer Technology to serve as the technical quality owner for active metal additive manufacturing product lines in Devens, MA.
This role will lead quality activities that transition products from development into stable, scalable production. The Senior NPI Quality Engineer will develop and execute process validations, establish Statistical Process Control frameworks, oversee mechanical and metallurgical testing, and partner with Research and Development and Operations teams to ensure robust manufacturing performance. The role will also support raw material verification, quality documentation, corrective actions, and First Article Inspection approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute process validation protocols, including Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification
  • Establish and implement Statistical Process Control systems to monitor build stability and Cpk performance
  • Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations for complex product and process defects
  • Implement and verify effective Corrective and Preventive Actions using 8D methodologies
  • Establish and validate mechanical and metallurgical testing protocols
  • Support tensile, density, hardness, and microstructural evaluations for titanium alloys and high-temperature metals
  • Own and maintain key quality records, including Device Master Records, Engineering Change Orders, and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses
  • Verify incoming raw material quality before build release, including metal powder chemistry and particle-size distribution
  • Partner with customer quality teams to execute First Article Inspection milestone approvals
  • Collaborate with Research and Development, Manufacturing, Operations, and Engineering teams to transition products into scalable production
  • Support continuous improvement of additive manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and quality systems
  • Ensure quality activities comply with applicable customer, regulatory, and internal requirements
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Quality Engineering experience in advanced manufacturing or metal additive manufacturing environments
  • Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong command of process validation, including
IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Proficiency with SPC, Cpk analysis, 8D root-cause investigation, and GD&T
  • Experience with metallurgical and mechanical testing methods
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or
ISO 13485
quality management systems
  • Experience with engineering change management
  • Strong analytical, technical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Research and Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Quality teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with titanium alloys, including Ti-6Al-4V
  • Experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion or other metal additive manufacturing workflows
