Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer II will support new project development, provide sustaining engineering support for production programs, and drive improvements in manufacturing methods and procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations, identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction. Enhance manufacturing methods and processes to improve product quality, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste. Collect and analyze manufacturing data to evaluate production efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and provide data-driven recommendations to management. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the production process, collaborating with production teams to implement corrective actions. Provide technical training to production staff on new manufacturing processes, equipment, and best practices. Develop and maintain documentation for equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures. Ensure proper execution of equipment tests and validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), documenting procedures, test results, and analyses. Travel up to 50% as needed to work with automation vendors for troubleshooting, equipment functionality assessment, and technical training. Facilitate knowledge transfer and training for automation technicians and internal teams. Will spend the majority of the time on the production floor. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) and 2-5 years of experience; OR 5-8 years of relevant technical experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve machinery and process-related technical issues. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements. Strong problem-solving skills with experience applying engineering principles to enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve quality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and effectively transfer knowledge to internal teams. Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively. Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision. Will spend the majority of the time on the production floor. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Desirable Qualifications:
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) for designing and modifying manufacturing processes and equipment layouts. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, including waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with 24v circuits Experience with vision systems. Experience with complex, fully automated manufacturing systems, including automation integration, machine troubleshooting, and high-volume production environments.
