Job Title:
Manufacturing Engineer Job Description As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing engineering aspects of high-reliability programs to ensure mission success. Your role involves developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining manufacturing systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Collaborate with various engineering disciplines and manufacturing functions to ensure efficient production of the highest quality products. Once hardware is on the production floor, you will work closely with floor operators to resolve technical issues in real-time and answer any questions. Additionally, you will create process planning work orders to guide the production of each hardware piece and conduct briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Responsibilities Oversee all manufacturing engineering aspects of high-reliability programs. Develop, modify, apply, and maintain manufacturing systems and protocols. Collaborate with engineering disciplines and manufacturing functions for efficient production. Work with floor operators to resolve technical issues in real-time. Create process planning work orders for each hardware piece. Conduct briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area. Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience. Hands-on manufacturing experience. Experience or exposure to SMT (Surface Mount Technology) engineering principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, electronics, SMT, and equipment manufacturing. Knowledge of SMT, J-STD, IPC, NASA, and PCB. Work Environment Work in an SMT Manufacturing/Lab environment within a large university-affiliated research center with over 8000 employees. The Research and Exploratory Development Department (REDD) supports work for NASA and DoD programs. You will be part of a team of 6 other manufacturing engineers within the department. The center provides opportunities to work on high-reliability hardware for space and DoD programs, state-of-the-art technology for SMT manufacturing, and offers educational support for employees wishing to obtain additional degrees. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Laurel, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
