Job Description

Job Title:
Controls Design EngineerJob Description As a Controls Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical schematics for automation equipment. Your primary tasks will involve creating designs using AutoCAD Electrical, completing redline prints, and performing electrical calculations to ensure accuracy. You will be part of a dedicated electrical controls design team and focus on hardware design without any travel requirements. Initially, this is a six-month contract position with the potential for a long-term role. Responsibilities Ensure equipment is designed to customer specifications using standard techniques and approaches. Create electrical and schematics in AutoCAD Electrical. Specify electrical and fluid power components for the bill of materials. Carry out assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision. Assist with the successful execution of assigned programs regarding cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction. Communicate with mechanical designers, machine builders, electricians, plumbers, and controls engineers throughout the design process. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience designing hardware in AutoCAD Electrical for industrial equipment. Proficient in designing electrical schematics. Experience designing automation equipment. Knowledge in PLC programming and electrical engineering. Expertise in panel layout and wiring. Additional Skills & Qualifications Electrical Engineering Degree. PLC programming experience. Background working as an electrician. Work Environment The team comprises over 80 engineers, including mechanical designers, controls, electrical, project managers, and application engineers. The role is based in an engineering center, with the plant located across the parking lot, and another facility about 15 minutes away. The team maintains a laid-back atmosphere, enjoying humor to manage stress from tight deadlines. The work involves cutting-edge technology in custom automation, factory automation, and automated test stands, offering exposure to highly technical new projects. There is no travel required for this role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgman, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.00
  • $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
