Manufacturing Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Ground Test Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and support our Ground Test Division. This division is responsible for designing and manufacturing test equipment for major engine programs. The focus of this role is to develop and improve manufacturing processes and tooling for composite part fabrication. The engineer will support production activities, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements to ensure quality and efficiency within tight build schedules. Additional tasks include creating detailed work instructions, bills of materials, and specifications, collaborating with design and production teams, assisting with material selection, and validating new processes and repairs. Responsibilities Develop and enhance manufacturing processes and tooling for composite part fabrication. Support production activities and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless operations. Drive process improvements to maintain quality and efficiency within tight build schedules. Create detailed work instructions, bills of materials, and specifications. Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability. Assist with material selection and validate new processes and repairs. Train production staff and address nonconforming material. Ensure compliance with engineering standards. Utilize data-driven problem-solving to support continuous improvement and overall product quality. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. At least 3 years of experience with composite materials. Effective problem identification and solution skills. Strong project ownership, execution, and proactive mentality. Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes such as machining, joints, fasteners, and welding. Experience in relevant industries like aerospace, defense, automotive, or similar. Proficiency in GD&T and print interpretation. Experience with Creo and NDT techniques. Knowledge of PFMEA implementation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with
Computer Aided Design Software:
Creo/Windchill or NX/FiberSIM/TeamCenter. Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, such as ultrasonic testing, eddy current, FPI, camera optics, and X-ray. Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly. Understanding of manufacturing cost and reproducibility. Work Environment The organization operates across five different plants in Lansing and a facility in Holt. Employees work a 45-hour week, starting between 7-8 AM, from Monday to Friday. The environment offers the opportunity to gain aerospace experience and access to online learning platforms like Udemy after six months of employment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $59.00/hr.
