Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with strong expertise in composite materials and manufacturing processes . This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and supporting production processes for composite structures, while collaborating closely with design and production teams across the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing & Process Development Develop and document manufacturing instructions, BOMs, and specifications based on engineering drawings Design, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes and tooling for composite parts Support design for manufacturability (DFM) across all development phases Production & Technical Support Collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and drive process improvements Train operators on new manufacturing methods and best practices Support material selection aligned with manufacturing capabilities Quality & Validation Review and disposition non-conforming materials Develop and validate repair processes in collaboration with engineering Contribute to cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives Ensure compliance with engineering standards and methodologies Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement Apply engineering judgment and data analysis to resolve complex manufacturing challenges Drive continuous improvement in processes, cost, and efficiency Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in STEM field + 10+ years experience (or Master's + 8+ years) Strong experience in mechanical manufacturing processes (machining, welding, joints, fasteners) Expertise in GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation Hands-on experience with composite materials : Fiberglass, carbon fiber, aramid Prepreg and wet layup (epoxy systems) Experience in composite structures manufacturing : Fiber reinforcement, curing, ovens/autoclaves Adhesives and surface preparation Strong problem-solving, ownership, and execution skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with CAD/PLM tools (Creo, Windchill, NX, Teamcenter, FiberSIM) Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (ultrasonic, X-ray, FPI, etc.) Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles Understanding of manufacturing cost and scalability Experience with PFMEA implementation ALTEN Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
