Job Description
SUMMARY Leads the support, development, and improvement of automated manufacturing systems and processes. Plans, directs, and coordinates automation solutions within the industrial plant to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. Provides technical expertise in automation, controls, and equipment integration to support manufacturing operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and service plants with automation feasibility and launch support.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve automated manufacturing processes to meet internal requirements and customer expectations.
- Maintain automation documentation including PFMEA, process flows, control plans, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Work with vendors and integrators on equipment specifications, RFQs, FAT/SAT, and commissioning.
- Establish automation and equipment standards and ensure implementation in capital projects.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts related to automated manufacturing systems, controls, robotics, and process issues.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Maintenance, Molding, and Facilities regarding automation and controls systems.
- Support training of technicians, operators, and engineers on automated systems and controls standards.
- Collaborate with Quality, Planning, Design, and Tooling for efficient automated production methods.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five years' experience with industrial automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, sensors, and vision systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control documentation, and engineering drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Autodesk software preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.WORK ENVIRONMENT
