Role Profile A CNC Machining Team Leader oversees daily machining operations within the workshop, ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, and adherence to safety standards. They coordinate and supervise CNC operators and machinists, assign workloads, monitor machine performance, and troubleshoot technical issues on the shop floor. They ensure that production targets are met while maintaining precision and minimizing downtime. The role also involves interpreting technical drawings, optimizing machining processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the CNC Team Leader is responsible for training and developing team members, enforcing best practices, and acting as the key link between production teams and engineering or management. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Supervise daily CNC machining operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery deadlines are met. Assign tasks and manage workload across CNC operators and machinists. Monitor machine utilization, efficiency, and downtime; take corrective actions when needed. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, 5S standards, and company policies on the shop floor. Review and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and machining programs. Support setup, tooling selection, and process optimization to improve productivity and reduce scrap. Troubleshoot machining issues and coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for resolution. Train, coach, and develop team members to improve technical skills and performance. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, cycle time reduction, cost optimization). Report production performance (KPIs such as OEE, scrap rate, downtime) to management. Ensure proper use and maintenance of CNC machines and related equipment. Person Specification Minimum 8 years of experience in an industrial machining environment (CNC / precision manufacturing). Solid hands-on experience in CNC machining operations (setup, programming understanding, troubleshooting). Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing standards. Ability to lead, coach, and manage a production team in a fast-paced environment. Good understanding of quality requirements, safety standards, and lean manufacturing principles. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions on the shop floor. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications. Good communication skills to interact with operators, engineers, and management. Results-oriented mindset with focus on productivity, quality, and continuous improvement.
