Job Description

Lind Electronics is a leading manufacturer of rugged power solutions for mobile electronics. For over 30 years, Lind has been the main supplier of reliable, quality products to our many worldwide customers. Lind designs and assembles its products on-site at our manufacturing facility in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Our primary products are digitally controlled DC-DC power adapters and battery chargers for ruggedized laptop and tablet computers. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who is responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes that drive safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity throughout operations. This role will partner closely with the Operations Manager to understand strategic manufacturing objectives and independently lead execution from concept through implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is NOT all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary. Collaborate with Operations Manager to translate operational goals and strategic initiatives into implemented manufacturing solutions, driving projects with minimal oversight from planning through execution. Interpret complex drawings and specifications. Must also clearly communicate verbally and in writing these requirements to production. Train and mentor associates on the fundamentals of Lean Manufacturing, Six sigma techniques, 5S, Kaizen and how they can be incorporated into our environment. Lead the implementation of continuous flow and pull system concepts within manufacturing. Process improvement projects (e.g., Lean Kaizen events). Set up cells (fixtures, machines, assembly instructions) and Kanban system for high volume lines. Work closely with purchasing to set up parts on a pull system (Kanban) from our suppliers. Produce value stream maps for product lines and business processes. Assist in new product development with ability to investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials. Plan equipment layout for maximum workplace efficiency. Specify and acquire manufacturing equipment (electric torque guns, robots, packaging machines). Assist in estimating production time, staffing requirements, and related costs. Work individually, as well as with team and cross functional team members to solve problems, improve processes and aid in decision making. Develop and initiate in-process inspection to ensure production of a consistently high quality products. Recommend changes in policies, procedures and processes and provides documentation as required. Create routing and enter std time and complete backflushing so costing can be established at initial release of part numbers. Design (Solidworks) and make any assembly fixtures required in production assembly. Determine assembly breakdown and create method drawings (using Excel) for assemblers to follow, update as necessary when engineering changes (PCN's) occur.
Qualifications:
Degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience. 3 years of work experience in manufacturing/assembly environment. Experience in assembly automation Proficiency in Solidworks or 3D modelling software Experience in Kanban, Lean, Six Sigma methodology and applications required. Must be self-motivated and possess good written and oral communication skills, especially in documenting evaluation results.

Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
