Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer-Automation will identify, scope, and implement automation projects as well as partner with design, manufacturing engineering and cross-functional business team members to develop efficient solutions to advance manufacturing technologies Position Responsibilities Design and build of automated work cells including c oncept development, detailed mechanical and electrical design, component selection and control software programming Analyzes machining and assembly cycle times to provide continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve quality and on-time delivery Develops cost effective processes and procedures for the manufacture of parts and assemblies in conformance with established specifications and customer requirements in conjunction with production personnel Designate, modify and/or make recommendations for the procurement of equipment necessary to produce parts and/or assemblies Project management for deployment of complex automated systems; develops manufacturing cost estimates to support quoting activities; sourcing "of the shelf" automated solutions Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes including CAD drawings for cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures ; standard work instructions Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests; deployment to the production floor and operator training on machine procedures Knowledge and Experience Fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design Thorough understanding of PLC control, including ladder logic, servo control, and robotics Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical measurement systems including distance, proximity, and thermal devices Thorough understanding of electro-mechanical actuators, including servo, pneumatic, and VFD Problem-solving and creative thinking - will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions Excellent mechanical aptitude Detail-oriented, mechanical knowledge Ability to communicate well to other members of the development team 3+ years of experience in operations/manufacturing environment Basic understanding of ISO9001 and LEAN Proficient in manual machining, fabrication preferred Conceptual understanding of CNC machining preferred Allen Bradley proficiency and Solidworks proficiency preferred Education and Certification A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or related field Compensation Range for the
