You will work individually and as part of a project team while receiving regular feedback in preparation for a final presentation to company leaders.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials, including development of trial plans and authoring trial reports
  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups
  • Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability
  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Provide technical support for key departments
  • Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills to achieve department initiatives.
  • Provide process engineering support to increase manufacturing capacity, improve safety/quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Leverage process engineering capability to support production process continuous improvement using operational excellence tools.
  • Support capital project work from scoping through installation under technical supervision
  • Assist in the design and technical supervision of plant studies and contribute to the design of the final project installation. Skills and Competencies

Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology with a 3.0 or higher

Entering Junior year Our internships are not all work. New York Air Brake, Kansas City Service Center, is located just minutes from downtown Kansas City. Enjoy world class shopping, food, and entertainment at the Power and Light District or the famed Country Club Plaza. Take in a concert at the brand new Morton Ampitheater or at any the areas venues. Sports fan? We have you covered! Cheer on the Royals, The Current, Sporting KC, or take a quick drive up to St. Joseph and watch the Chiefs practice! Kansas City offers a wide variety of outdoor and cultural activies including museums, the historic 18th and Vine Jazz District, hiking and biking trails, and so much more! Our interns begin work as early as mid May and work up until the middle of August. Expect 40 hours per week. You will participate in special events, & and outings.
