Manufacturing Engineer -Amory, MS Summary :
Provides manufacturing engineering support for a designated manufacturing process(es) by performing the following duties and responsibilities:Duties and Responsibilities :
Take the lead on development and procurement of equipment and materials necessary for implementation of manufacturing processes. Prepare capital justifications for new production equipment and for on-going improvements. Act as technical contact for vendors. Evaluate efficiencies by comparing process standards such as labor hours, machine cycle time to actual production levels and report proposed improvement recommendations with timing to the Engineering Manager. Prepare weekly updates for process capability/performance. Initiate continuous improvement activities for cycle time reduction, direct labor reduction, alternative materials and scrap reduction for assigned manufacturing processes. Analyze SPC, DOE and process parameters and coordinate the necessary improvements to achieve capable processes. Investigate and implement production method changes to improve productivity on a continuing basis. Improve the quality of golf shafts by developing and implementing error proofing methods to prevent manufacturing defects. Notify the Engineering Manager of incapable processes/products. Actively participate in advanced product quality planning with regard to manufacturing processes (i.e., workstation layout and preventable maintenance schedules). Initiate problem solving for control/capability non-conformances. Lead team in mistake proofing of potential process concerns. Ensure customer notification/authorization and documentation of all process changes. Initiate engineering change request for all proposed process changes and file all process related documentation. Assist with in-house training programs for operational personnel to learn about new products and new or changed processes. Ensure the implementation of new production processes and follow-up until process capability is achieved. Maintain and update operator instructions, process specifications, process flow charts, process control plans, equipment set-up instructions, etc. Develop and review work procedures for all process related functions (i.e., operators' set up, material handling and maintenance). Arrange with the involvement of the Engineering Manager the sourcing of replacement production tooling, testing equipment and prototypes when required. Follow-up with same. Responsible for keeping plant operational personnel informed of quality, process and general product related issues for assigned area(s) through plant information boards. Ensure all processing methods and equipment meets all health, safety requirements and ergonomic concepts. Support the plant continuous improvement efforts by leading or participating in Kaizen and rapid improvement events and implantation of standard work, 5-S and visual management. Any other duty assigned by the Engineering Manager.Minimum Qualifications:
Good communication and organizational skills Good analytical and reasoning abilities Computer literacy required Possess basic statistical knowledge and the ability to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects Flexible and willing to shift priorities Possess knowledge of key quality systems related to job function Capacity to teach (or learn to teach) others and be seen as approachable, helpful and supportive B.S. degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology); or three to five years related experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Certification in Lean/Six Sigma preferred. 5 Years or more experience.Job Type:
