Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Tooling & Equipment Engineer II to join the Power & Thermal Management division in Conover, North Carolina . The Tooling & Equipment Engineer II is responsible for managing the tooling and equipment at Legrand DAT facilities and at supplier facilities globally. This includes maintaining existing tooling/equipment capabilities and supporting new tooling/equipment builds for new products. Responsible for precision sheet metal fabrication and prototyping. Education BS in Mechanical Engineering or Tool Maker Journeyman Certification with experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience 2-4 years of related work experience with tooling support in a manufacturing facility. Familiar with SolidWorks 2D/3D modeling software.

Injection molding Precision metal stamping Assembly (manual and automated) Precision sheet metal fabrication & prototyping Willingness to learn more about these processes. Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, e-mail, and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively. Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities. Must possess project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control a number of projects at various stages of work. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Willing to travel as necessary Track and monitor existing tooling/equipment lifecycle counts and condition to determine when refurbishment or replacement is required. Plan capital budget to meet these requirements. Provide support at vendor and manufacturing facilities to resolve manufacturing or quality issues and keep production flowing. Work with Product Design Engineers to determine tooling/equipment required to produce new products. Manage all tooling and equipment builds, repairs, refurbishments, and ECN modifications. Manage precision sheet metal fabrication prototype shop. RFQ tooling/equipment at vendors along with piece-part costs. Provide results to Engineering, Product Management, and Sourcing. Perform other related duties as required to keep projects moving forward and maintain production of parts.
