HTI is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading global manufacturer in Mount Gilead, North Carolina. This role will lead process and equipment improvements across a single-line, 24/7 plant that produces wood-based material used in flooring manufacturing. The target salary range is $110,000-$130,000, with flexibility above the range for an exceptional candidate, plus 10%-15% annual bonus potential.

What You Need:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, or a related engineering field
  
• 4-6 years of relevant manufacturing or process engineering experience in a continuous-process environment
  
• Paper, pulp, MDF, particleboard, engineered wood, chemical, building-products, or a comparable process-manufacturing background is preferred
  
• Hands-on project ownership from evaluation and scope through implementation, startup, monitoring, documentation, and sustained results
  
• Strong mechanical and process understanding; furnace or thermal systems, controls or programming, automation, and electrical experience are valuable
  
• Demonstrated ability to improve throughput, quality, reliability, safety, and cost while minimizing production downtime
  
• Experience creating job plans, SOPs, work standards, performance measures, and operator training
  
• Ability to work across office and production environments and participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 8-10 weeks
  

What Your Role Will Look Like:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be a hands-on technical resource responsible for turning engineering recommendations into practical, sustainable plant improvements. The strongest candidate will be comfortable working directly with production and maintenance, taking autonomous ownership of projects, becoming the subject-matter expert for assigned systems, and training operators on improved processes.

• Lead process-improvement and equipment projects from evaluation and scope through execution, startup, monitoring, and sustained results
  
• Support furnace or thermal, mechanical, process, controls, programming, and related plant systems
  
• Identify ways to improve throughput, quality, reliability, safety, and cost without unnecessarily shutting down production
  
• Evaluate recommendations from external engineering firms and own plant-level implementation and follow-through
  
• Use data and structured problem-solving to identify root causes, validate results, and prioritize improvements
  
• Become the site subject-matter expert for assigned systems and train operators and maintenance partners
  
• Create job plans, standard operating procedures, work standards, and training materials that make improvements sustainable
  
• Partner with operations, maintenance, safety, and plant leadership while supporting the on-call rotation for the 24/7 operation
