Job Description

Position Summary:
The Design Engineer will work with a team that is responsible for the design, performance, and manufacturability of all PS Industries' products. They will use PS Industries' product technology, engineering experience, and structural analysis to design robust, value driven products that meet customer specifications. The engineer will work toward department efficiency through standardization of products and automation of processes. Create winning products through collaboration with our customers and internal Sales, Design, and Fabrication teams.
Core Roles:
  • Design and engineer custom products that provide maximum value to the customer and our company by improving product performance, installation, and manufacturability
  • Lead the Design staff in producing value driven designs that meet customer specifications
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide preliminary calculations and/or design considerations prior to quoting
  • Calculate and evaluate loads and perform structural analysis of products
  • Increase Engineering Department efficiency through the standardization and automation of repetitive engineering practices
Essential Job Functions:
  • Review fabrication drawings to provide welding sequences and recommendations for structural end connections and custom components.
  • Generate innovative and efficient design and fabrication methods to assist in the development of the engineering department.
  • Support manufacturing staff by providing technical, quality, safe handling, rigging, and production solutions.
  • Collaborate with third party engineering firm to discuss and resolve different design methodologies.
  • Assist in the creation of documents, calculators, charts, etc. that will increase efficiencies and standardize processes, further defining engineering/design limitations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and machine shops to ensure custom fabrication meets the design intent.
  • Conduct in-house product testing, record test data, and generate performance reports.
  • Conduct meetings for project planning and design review of custom concepts, components, and designs.
  • Create a positive customer experience
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience utilizing CAD based drafting/engineering software
  • An understanding of engineering design principles relating to steel and aluminum structures and connections
  • Understanding of mechanical interfacing of parts and assemblies
  • Works well in a team setting by listening to others' ideas and providing valuable input to work towards a common goal
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes, manage competing demands, and delays or unexpected events while maintaining completion dates
  • Strong facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strength in prioritizing tasked activities while maintaining accuracy and completeness
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or RISA 3D
  • Understanding of welding principles
  • Background working in steel manufacturing environment
  • Utilization of Excel with computation development
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
