Job Description

Power Supply Design Engineer responsible for developing power conversion products from initial requirements through prototype, testing, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing. Job Requirements 4-year degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred 6+ years of power supply industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree 3+ years of experience designing power conversion circuits Experience designing power supplies from concept through final product Advanced analog circuit design experience Knowledge of magnetic component design and magnetic theory Experience with power supply layout and packaging Experience reviewing and verifying CAD-generated design documentation Experience interpreting system power specifications Experience with component engineering and stress factor analysis Knowledge of power supply manufacturing techniques Experience testing and troubleshooting analog and digital/analog circuits Experience using oscilloscopes, voltmeters, electronic loads, bench power supplies, environmental ovens, test fixtures, and related laboratory equipment Experience with prototype fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting Preferred Skills ISO quality system experience Experience with UL approvals Experience with CSA approvals Experience with VDE approvals Experience with TÜV approvals Experience designing fixtures, tools, and equipment for power supply manufacturing Experience with environmental testing and product qualification Experience supporting engineering-to-manufacturing product transfer Experience with power supply reliability and operational stability testing Job Responsibilities Design and develop power supplies from initial concept through final production release Translate customer documentation and internal specifications into power conversion designs Develop analog and digital/analog power circuitry Generate preliminary engineering documentation for prototype fabrication Fabricate, test, troubleshoot, and repair prototype circuits as required Perform breadboard and prototype testing Test products under environmental conditions to evaluate operational stability, reliability, and design compliance Operate oscilloscopes, voltmeters, electronic loads, bench power supplies, environmental ovens, test fixtures, and related equipment Design and recommend fixtures, tooling, and equipment required for product manufacturing Support fabrication of manufacturing fixtures and tooling Generate manufacturing instructions and engineering documentation for product transfer Review CAD-generated documentation for power supply layout and packaging requirements Perform component selection and stress analysis Support agency approval requirements, including UL, CSA, VDE, and TÜV Maintain engineering records, files, test results, and technical reports Maintain laboratory and test equipment and identify equipment requiring calibration Perform engineering work in accordance with ISO procedures and applicable quality requirements Coordinate technical activities with manufacturing, vendors, suppliers, and other internal departments
