Full-time SUMMARY:
We are seeking a high-energy, hands-on Manufacturing Quality Engineer to drive operational excellence on our production floor. In this role, you won't just be reviewing paperwork; you will be on the front lines ensuring that complex defense systems are built right the first time. You will be the primary authority for ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and AS6500 standards, serving as the gatekeeper for product integrity by applying
MIL-HDBK-61B

RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015): Maintain and improve the Site Quality Management System (QMS). Lead internal audits and ensure all manufacturing activities align with International Quality Standards. Manufacturing Process Controls (AS6500): Implement and manage Manufacturing Management Programs (MMP) to ensure process capability. You will identify and mitigate manufacturing risks, monitor process stability, and utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce variability.
Configuration Control & Baseline Management:
Establish and maintain the functional, allocated, and physical configuration baselines. Ensure that the "as-built" configuration exactly matches the "as-designed" engineering documentation throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
Change Management:
Manage Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Request for Variations (RFVs). You will lead Configuration Control Boards (CCB) to assess the impact of changes on manufacturing processes, tooling, and existing inventory. Physical Configuration Audits (PCA): Lead and execute PCAs to formally verify that the physical product reflects the released technical documentation. Ensure all deviations are documented, tracked, and closed prior to final delivery.
Shop Floor Support:
Act as the "boots on the ground" for the production team. Resolve real-time quality issues, provide technical guidance on assembly procedures, and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements. Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA): Lead investigations into non-conformances using 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 8D methodologies. Move beyond symptoms to fix the underlying process failures.
Performance Metrics and KPIs:
Monitor and Analyze quality performance to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
Supplier & Incoming Quality:
Collaborate with the supply chain to resolve material defects and perform First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 where applicable. Will also support Supplier Audits for contractual and product requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Champion Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Drive 5S, Kaizen events, and Poke-Yoke (error-proofing) solutions to enhance yield and safety.
Data Management:
Oversee the integrity of technical data packages (TDP). Ensure that all manufacturing work instructions, drawings, and software versions are current and properly vaulted.
Experience Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience:
3-5+ years of quality engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment (Defense, Aerospace, or Medical Device).

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T (ASME Y14.
5). Experience with precision measurement tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers). Strong grasp of SPC, FMEA, and Control Plans.
Audit Leadership:
Experience representing the manufacturing department during government-led Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) or PCAs. Soft Skills & Physical Requirements The "Hands-On"

Ability to "stop the line" when quality is at risk and make data-driven decisions under pressure. Preferred Certifications ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Six Sigma Green or Black Belt. Experience with government oversight (DCMA/DCAA) is a significant plus. Manufacturing Process Controls (AS6500): Implement and manage Manufacturing Management Programs (MMP) to ensure process capability. You will identify and mitigate manufacturing risks, monitor process stability, and utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to reduce variability.
