Design & Development Engineer (Manufacturing) The Design & Development Engineer plays a critical role in developing, testing, and refining product designs and manufacturing processes. This position focuses on improving production efficiency, product quality, and overall profitability while ensuring designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development:
Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks) for new and existing products, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
Prototyping & Validation:
Design, build, and test prototypes; analyze performance data; identify design improvements; and troubleshoot issues to meet quality and performance standards.
Manufacturing Process Optimization:
Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and production processes that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
Engineering Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, work instructions, and engineering specifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with teams across production, quality, and purchasing to ensure seamless transition from concept through production and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for design enhancements, cost reduction, and process improvements using data-driven decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Software Proficiency:
Strong experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
Technical Expertise:
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, and fabrication, as well as material selection and properties.
Analytical Skills:
Experience performing engineering analyses such as FEA, tolerance stack-ups, and root cause analysis.
Communication & Problem-Solving:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and collaborate effectively across teams. Experience 3-5 years of experience in a design or manufacturing engineering role. Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
