$90,000 - $125,000 (based on experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support a growing engineering organization that is evolving into a hybrid team responsible for manufacturing methods, operations, and tooling support . This role focuses on developing detailed manufacturing documentation and driving methodized production for military mechanical and structural components in a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment. This position is best suited for a hands-on manufacturing engineer who can quickly interpret customer specifications, define robust manufacturing methods, and ensure accurate documentation is executed on the shop floor. Key Responsibilities Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical data packages to define manufacturing methods Create clear, detailed operation sheets and assembly instructions to support shop-floor execution Perform manufacturing methodizing for mechanical parts, including routings, processes, and work instructions Support tooling design , including identifying tooling needs and collaborating with machinists and tool & die teams Interface with Quality to address nonconformances and support Requests for Variance (RFVs) Communicate with government and customer technical representatives to clarify technical requirements Collaborate directly with production teams during first article and initial production runs to validate and refine methods Ensure manufacturing documentation is accurate, compliant, and properly released to the shop floor Utilize ERP systems for contract takeoff, routings, and manufacturing data management Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and repeatability Required Qualifications (Must Have) Minimum 3-5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience (3 years considered if highly qualified) Demonstrated ability to create operation sheets and assembly instructions (most critical skill) Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for mechanical parts and assemblies Experience with manufacturing methodizing and shop-floor support ERP system experience within a manufacturing environment Ability to work closely with production personnel and support first production runs Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Aerospace and/or defense manufacturing experience (strongly preferred) Familiarity with AS9100 and
ISO 9001
quality systems Tooling design experience or close collaboration with tooling and machining teams Experience working to detailed military or aerospace customer specifications Continuous improvement experience in a production environment Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred Candidates without a degree may be considered with 10-15 years of directly relevant experience Work Environment 100% onsite role located in Hauppauge, NY Flexible start time between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM (manager discretion) Privately owned manufacturing organization (~100 employees) Collaborative culture with close interaction between engineering, quality, and production teams Facilities include both mechanical manufacturing and large, close‑tolerance composite structures Ideal Candidate Profile A true manufacturing engineer (not repair-focused and not R D-heavy) Comfortable quickly getting into detailed specifications and production methods Aerospace and defense background with exposure to major A&D programs Strong mechanical engineering foundation with tooling and shop-floor collaboration experience Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Hauppauge, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
