  • Your role and responsibilities
  • As a Cryogenic Design Engineer, you will work as part of a team of scientists and engineers on the design and optimization of components and systems operating in cryogenic environments in support of IBM's quantum computing hardware.
The work may include mechanical design, thermal and structural FEA, working with manufacturing companies to fabricate and assembly hardware, and working with internal teams on integration of cryogenic systems.
  • Required technical and professional expertise
  • Computer-aided design of mechanical components.
  • Structural and thermal finite-element analysis.
  • Thermal and mechanical properties of materials at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Design of components for operation in cryogenic environments.
  • Documentation of designs and analysis projects through assembly drawings, bills of materials, procedures, and similar documents.
  • Support of installation and integration of components and systems.
  • Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Computer-aided design using Solidworks
  • Experience with design of components for operation at
