Job Description

Company Overview Interstate-McBee is a leading manufacturer and distributor of diesel engine parts and components for the international heavy duty diesel industry. Established in 1947, we are committed to providing high-quality products and services to various sectors including trucking, agriculture, mining, and military.
Summary:
This role is responsible for developing, overseeing, and optimizing remanufacturing processes of diesel fuel injectors to meet or exceed OEM specifications and accepted performance standards. The engineer will apply mechanical, quality, and manufacturing engineering principles to ensure the reliability and performance of remanufactured injectors and improve process efficiency and reduce costs.
Essential Functions:
Lead the disassembly, inspection, reconditioning, assembly, and testing processes of diesel fuel injectors. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for remanufacturing processes. Design or specify specialized tooling, fixtures, and test equipment required for remanufacturing. Ensure the proper functioning of test equipment and tools. Calibrate and maintain testing instruments, troubleshoot faults or failures with testing machinery. Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance and production teams to address defects and continuous improvement opportunities. Perform root cause analysis on failed components or assemblies, recommend and deploy corrective actions. Analyze data to improve performance, cycle time, and yield of remanufactured products. Provide technical training and guidance to technicians and assembly personnel. Stay current with diesel injection technology trends and remanufacturing best practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices. Assure that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production, communicating the need for corrective action to appropriate employees. Alternate shifts, extended work hours, report for meetings on an as-needed basis to ensure production and process release needs are met. Performs other work as directed by supervision. Work and move among departments. Excellent hand/eye coordination. Lift up to 40 pounds. Office and factory floor-based work with occasional field visits for testing.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in testing, particularly in the field of diesel fuel injection systems. Experience with industry-standard teardown, assembly and testing equipment required. Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, particularly fuel injection systems (Common rail, unit injectors, etc.). Demonstrated competency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, MS Project). Proficiency in test equipment including pressure/flow measurement devices, injector testers, and data logging systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools, methods and software for fuel system analysis is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Thinking outside the box, developing novel solutions. Collaborate effectively, share ideas, and contribute to shared goals. Certification in diesel engine systems or fuel injection technologies is a plus.
