Position Summary:
TDS Millwork is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve our manufacturing operations, processes, and production efficiency. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing methods, improving workflow, supporting production teams, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering within a custom manufacturing environment. Experience in millwork, cabinetry, woodworking, or architectural casework is highly preferred. This position also includes leadership responsibilities, overseeing a small engineering and production support team while helping drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
Lead and support a small engineering and production support team Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to team members Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes and production workflows Analyze production methods to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize labor utilization Create and maintain shop drawings, process documentation, and manufacturing standards Interpret and navigate architectural blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications Collaborate with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution Support CNC programming, machine setup, tooling, and manufacturing equipment optimization Troubleshoot manufacturing and production issues quickly and effectively Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction Evaluate materials, hardware, and fabrication methods to ensure quality and functionality Assist in maintaining production schedules and ensuring projects stay on budget and on time Participate in customer meetings and occasional job site visits as needed Ensure compliance with AWI standards and manufacturing best practices Help establish departmental goals, priorities, and process improvements Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, leadership, and production personnel
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering Prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred Experience in custom manufacturing, woodworking, cabinetry, or millwork strongly preferred Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, CNC machinery, tooling, and production systems Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is required Experience with Cabinet Vision or similar software is preferred Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Knowledge of AWI standards preferred Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience is a plus
