Contract Location:

Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 5-10+ years of experience in ceramic processing, additive manufacturing, or powder-based systems Strong knowledge of ceramic materials, high-temperature behavior, binder chemistry, and thermal processing methods Hands-on experience with binder jet or similar additive manufacturing technologies Familiarity with process control methodologies and Design of Experiments (DOE)
Preferred:
Experience with ceramic molds/cores for investment casting and Ni-based superalloys (e.g., IN718, Rene alloys) Background in aerospace or regulated environments, printhead/fluid systems, and scaling additive processes to production preferred
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize ceramic additive manufacturing processes, including binder jet printing and slurry-based/SLA/DLP systems for molds and cores Define and control critical process parameters such as binder behavior, powder characteristics, and layer/recoating conditions Lead development of high-temperature binder systems, including debinding, burnout performance, and compatibility with superalloy casting Improve print quality by enhancing surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and reducing defects (e.g., warping, delamination, streaking) Establish and refine post-processing methods including drying, curing, debinding, and sintering or infiltration strategies Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure mold performance, thermal resistance, and minimal interaction with molten alloys Drive scale-up from R&D to production, including throughput optimization, yield improvement, equipment qualification, and troubleshooting process issues #
