Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer Summary/Objective The Manufacturing Engineer will support and optimize production processes within SIMONA Boltaron's high-performance plastics manufacturing environment. This position will have a primary focus on the calender production line and press equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a commitment to lean manufacturing principles. Key Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Lead efforts to improve manufacturing processes including quality, safety, and overall operational efficiency. Provide technical support for calender line and press operations, including technical troubleshooting and performance optimization. Manage and execute manufacturing and industrial projects, including capital improvements, and equipment upgrades. Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. Partner cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve safety, reliability, and output; as well as investigating production and quality issues. Support and maintain PLC-controlled systems, including basic troubleshooting and process optimization. Coordinate production line trials and reporting on new compounds or materials. Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Train operators and technicians on new or improved processes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred, or similar technical field. 5-10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in plastics or related industry. Experience with industrial manufacturing systems. Working knowledge of PLCs and automated manufacturing systems. Proven project management experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong background in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma or Lean certification. Experience with ERP/MES systems and manufacturing data analysis tools/CPK a plus. Supervisory Responsibility None Work Environment This job operates primarily based in a manufacturing facility with exposure to industrial equipment and production lines, as well as working in a professional office environment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move as well as talk and hear throughout a manufacturing facility. May require bending, reaching, climbing stairs or ladders, and working near operating machinery. Frequent use of hands and arms to operate equipment, tools, and computer systems. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials and equipment up to approximately 50 pounds. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in an industrial environment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, salary position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. May require occasional off-shift support or extended hours based on business needs. Travel Limited travel may be required to support equipment vendors, training, or multi-site initiatives with other SIMONA facilities.
